In the days starting the New Year of 2020, the world has witnessed two events which have decisive effects on world’s peace, in the Middle East and in North Eastern Asia, as follows:
- In the Middle East, on January 3, 2020, President Trump ordered the launching of Hellfire R9X missiles from a MQ-9 Reaper drone to kill the most dangerous terrorist General Soleimani (and also the escort cars) who led and mobilized all the terrorist operations which have caused damages for the U.S. interests in Iraq and in the region, for many years ago until now; with the demonstrations and attack on the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad just on the last day of 2019. President Trump and the U.S. Department of Defence had to mobilize their 700 soldiers from Kuwait to arrive immediately to protect their Embassy in Baghdad, to prevent a 2nd disastrous Benghazi event from happening again if the President was slow in reaction to protect the Embassy.
General Soleimani arrived at Baghdad International Airport (January 3, 2020) to meet with Iraqi militia leader Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, who was also killed in the missile attack by a MQ-9 Reaper drone. The destruction of the drone attack was beyond the imagination of everybody, as only one hand left for the Soleimani body that people could recognized thanks to his special ring still on his finger.
The Iranian government reacted by the launching of a dozen missiles to the two U.S. military bases in Iraq (Al Assad and Irbil) on January 7, 2020 to avenge for the death of Soleimani. There were no deaths of U.S. soldiers in the two bases and the President didn’t retaliate to Iran for this operation; but President Trump announced stricter embargo actions against Iran following Iran’s attack on January 7. Many international observers commented that the killing of Soleimani may help guarantee a more peaceful atmosphere in the Middle East and therefore help the U.S. seek a solution for peace in the region thanks to no more strong extremist terrorist leaders/groups prevailing in the region.
- In North Eastern Asia, the victory of incumbent President TSAI ING-WEN on January 11, 2020 guarantees the continual existence of a democratic Taiwan under the support of an absolute majority of the people, according to the results of the Jan. 11, 2020 Election, with President Tsai (Democratic Progressive Party - DPP) winning of 57.10% (8.17 million votes), while the rival Han Kuo-yu (Kuomingtan - KMT) bagging 5.52 million votes (38.6 percent). This is a victory that never happened before in this island nation. It made the Central Committee of KMT have to decide a resignation of the whole leadership group on January 13, 2020.
Not only the winning of President Tsai saves Taiwan from the danger of becoming more dependent on China should KMT win on January 11, but it also helps Hong Kong keep more momentum in their struggle for freedom and democracy. Moreover, the winning of President Tsai also helps President Trump keep on his strategy to surround and pressure Red China on a wide range of areas, such as trade, investment, finance, the Yuan manipulation, intellectual property rights, intelligence, the East Sea, and others. With President Tsai as President of Taiwan, Donald Trump’s overall worldwide strategy to control Red China is in good shape, with the alliance for North Eastern Asia (Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and the U.S.) now consolidated better than ever.
- In VN, the most dangerous move of the Vietnamese communist regime to attack Dong Tam on the early morning of January 9, 2020 (4AM) which took the life of Mr. LÊ ĐÌNH KÌNH (84 years old, leader of the people of Dong Tam) was something unimaginable to everybody. He was the leader of Dong Tam in the rising against the local authorities who sent security forces to seize their farmland at Dong Tam in April 2017, but the villagers reacted and took 38 troops hostage. Nguyen Duc Chung - head of the People’s Committee of the City of Hanoi had to come to negotiate with the villagers and he agreed that no villagers involved in the hostage would be accused and prosecuted. Finally, the security office of Hanoi launched the accusations against many village people who were involved in the hostage-taking. The trust between the two sides was entirely broken after that act of the Hanoi City (the signing of the agreement between Nguyễn Đức Chung and the villagers was in the presence of a lawyer and a Deputy of the National Assembly at the time).
The attack of the security forces (thousands of police and security personnel) on Dong Tam on January 9, 2020 (4AM) was something like a military attack, not an administrative procedure of land dispute. This was like the case of Doan Van Vuon at Tiên Lãng, Hải Phòng in 2012, but the magnitude and damages were much bigger and turned to bloodshed. Mr. LÊ ĐÌNH KÌNH and his son(?) (Mr. Chức?) were killed and 3 police were dead. More importantly, Mr. KÌNH was shot one bullet in the heart and two in the head; with one more bullet to make his left leg broken (his right leg was already broken as a result of the attack by the security forces in April 2017). The way that the security police behaved on January 9, 2020 at Dong Tam looked like a gang band executed a member that wasn’t strictly to obey the order of the gang leader (many videos and clips from Mr. KÌNH’s family members, especially Mr. KÌNH’s wife, to report on the death of Mr. KÌNH, were published under the writer's original in Vietnamese, as the Reference Documents, in this issue).
The Vietnamese people in the homeland, overseas, the civil associations, the internet and web groups, Facebook, even the religions in VN, all condemned and requested a thorough investigation. International media also requested their access to Dong Tam to inquire about the case. None has been approved by the VC regime until today (January 14, 2020).
This is the most severe political/social disorder that has happened in VN in the last several decades. Something for the people of Dong Tam and the people of VN should be done in the days ahead, including the waking up and rising of the people of Dong Tam and other places to find out the truth and to seek the JUSTICE for the victims. More measures are being called for to help Dong Tam and to deal with a regime that its actions were clearly a crime against humanity.
